Yes, it's a little more complex than Chrome's sync... but Chrome's sync keeps most of your data in cleartext on Google's servers, and even their optional encryption is relatively weak (low-entropy key derived from your password). I don't like that. Mozilla can't see your data if we tried -- at that includes if we get a subpoena. Firefox Sync's 128-bit secret key has to be transferred somehow. I think that's worth the extra effort, and you only need to do the setup once. (If you don't trust Mozilla, you can even run your own Sync server.) Please don't _keep_ your sync key on Dropbox. It's important! |
