Over the past few weeks, I've seen police officers indiscriminately spray pepper spray at peaceful protestors. I've seen them spray pepper spray at journalists. I've seen them point guns at unarmed children. I've seen them shoot cannisters at the face of a helpless man in a wheelchair. I've seen them ram cars into crowds. I've seen too many of them put their knees on the back of the neck of far too many black men. I've seen them do all of this while their colleagues stood by and watched. I've seen them do all of this while their colleagues vocally defended these 'bad apples'.

It's time to reform policing in the US. It is clearly not fit for purpose. If more of this seemingly endless supply of money was spent on improving community initiatives to address problems before they become problems, we would need fewer white men in riot gear with assault rifles breaking into the homes of innocent black men and women to shoot them in their sleep. This madness has gone on for far too long.
