There is no underlying concept of "free will" just as there is no underlying concept of "a car". They are just names we give to things that appear to be. Within the experience of consciousness there is a sense of free will. The mind takes ownership of whatever it perceives, and works it into a story, in which itself is the protagonist. So for practical purposes we all behave as if we have free will. It's all just part of the universal dance. |
