I've had a similar idea after looking for something like this to use as a log for interesting stuff that I found on the internet. I ended up building a small ruby app for this (https://github.com/adnanh/mikro) and it powers my (b)log which is still alive at http://blog.hajdarevic.net/

Since then, I've wanted to enhance it with URL unfurling, link preserving in terms of creating a snapshot of the linked URLs, smart bookmarklet etc... but never got around to doing it, as life tends to get busy, and other things take priority over that :-(
