I think it's important to weigh whether the person you're arguing with is making their argument in good faith. Is Trump making a nuanced argument that weighs the pros and cons of mail-in voting? No, he's clearly not. If you want to have a debate about the pros and cons of mail-in ballots, you can't have it in that context, because the other person isn't trying to debate, they're trying to dominate the discussion and cow the opposition. Someone should coin a word for the act of getting nerd sniped, but rather than getting distracted by a fun puzzle you're sitting down trying to account for all of the nuances of an argument clearly made in bad faith. |
