There absolutely is help- two of my bosses have gone through this and were able to give me first-hand advice as my son has been going through this over the last year as well. We learned about the different between a psychiatric hospital, a residential program, a partial hospitalization program, and therapy. Some hospitals are much better than others, which can give some the impression of hopelessness (some just seem to be holding places, others really have good programs).
