"Species X" is to Covid19 as "Civet Cat" is to SARS. Giving something a short well-known name makes it easier to talk about it. We could have headlines like: "Scientists still searching for Species X" or: "Species X: Bat, pangolin, mink, or something else?" or, if you like conspiracy theories: "There is no Species X" |
