Wow! Thanks for writing this up. I'll cherry pick for now and talk about more in a general follow-up later in the day. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by 'place tracker', but if you check out some of the things coming in Unity, I think you'll like them. In Unity, Dash and Places are going to allow people to search, find and launch applications much easier.
