I was using vimwiki for a while, but have since switched to notational-fzf-vim[1], which is basically Notational Velocity for Vim, powered by fzf and ripgrep. So far, it's exactly what I've been looking for. Come to think of it, I don't see why you couldn't use both vimwiki and notational-fzf-vim. That might be pretty good actually.
