Chinese manufacturing wasn't there yet. Chinese construction wasn't there yet. Western culture keeps underestimating China, perpetually saying they aren't there. And by the time they figure out they are there they are far past wherever there was supposedly.

It is. It's just that most western people are not willing to admit that.

But then again, why do US citizens travel to Asia for medical procedures? Because it's cheap and good enough.

Oh and didn't the UK pick Hong Kong and Singapore as their role models for revitalizing the country after Brexit?

And you maybe noticed that many high-profile Google research papers are full of Chinese last names?
