DVD playback was also a major sell feature for the PS2. The Dreamcast also was dialup only in the era when DSL and cable connections were just starting to become mainstream (and at least in the US, BBS was practically dead and normal ISP dialup was too varied to work on a console). SEGA really did get everything else right with the hardware; even having a semi-handheld as part of the controller. The market was just not ready for it. |
