In Sonic Pi you can send and receive MIDI messages and OSC messages to interoperate with external synthesiser hardware and software. Sonic Pi comes bundled with SuperCollider. The Sonic Pi server calls out to SuperCollider to play samples, synth tones, and apply FX.
