Who besides "government" and related spin-offs such as DoD contractors use COBOL? Does "subsidized zombification" count for a programming language being otherwise dead? Side Note: 20 years ago a SciFi book introduced me to the idea of "Software Archaeology". These days, such a term is slowly gaining traction as a job description. I've had to professionally dabble into this myself from time to time. |
