I don't know anything about the High Rise tower except the wikipedia summary, but it doesn't seem similar to the Tower of David at all, except for the two skyscrapers lacking working elevators. The Tower of David inhabitants manage the lack of social structure and services through self-organization and integration with the outside economy. The High Rise tower seems to be Lord of the Flies except with overindulgence and social alienation as the triggering causes. The Tower of David as shown in the article, despite everything terrible it reveals about Venezuela's government and economy, is a story about people creating a functioning society from nothing. |
