You aren't alone. It's easy to conflate "remote" with what's happening right now, but it's not the same. Crisis-induced work-from-home while doubling as a homeschool teacher is not the same as properly organized remote work. But COVID-remote work has been way different. I've been a full remote worker for 3 years usually working out of coffee shops, and I'm much less productive now because a) I have to work from home, and b) it's generally harder to stay focused during a global pandemic. And I'm not even a parent.
I do hope those who are working remote for the first time don't associate remote work with a bad work life now.
