The correct answer is: wear them always (this is only the right answer if you passed high school mathematics). If you expect a significant percentage of the population to be infected, wearing a mask significantly reduces the infection rate of others (as demonstrated by all asian countries). By reducing the reproduction factor (which causes the exponential increase ignoring people having developed resistance), it also reduces strain on health workers. And if you're able to grasp how and why this is so, it even reduces the infection risk for yourself. |
