I prefer boring that works vs. new that doesn't work.

What would be cool if the new thing worked really well and it was different/interesting.

This design is only the latter, hence the slight disdain. But, I applaud the work that went into it.

It's not that it doesn't work. It actually works better than the old way. You think it doesn't work because you're not used it.
