How do you measure "less dangerous than influenza"? Honestly I think it is likely in some jurisdictions to be in the final analysis less dangerous (raw population wide deaths over the season) than influenza. But I think it's worth being cautious (and am contributing and setting an example by self-isolating), because there's a small but worrisome chance it's way worse than influenza. Why is this important? Because if knowledge authorities go around talking about severity with scary talking points, and in the end, it doesn't turn out to be so, then we wind up in a "boy who cried wolf" situation next time. |
