VVT (variable valve timing) was promising for decades, starting back from the early 1900, then in the 1980's VTEC ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VTEC ) was much more promising, and now this. The delay between each major step is approximately half the previous one, let's plan for a new one in ~20 years.
