as the article also points out, life is not lived in the aggregate. If you're in good health and not very old you should adjust your perception of risk according to your personal circumstances.

For reference, the chance of a 40+ year old woman to get breast cancer every year is about 2%. I don't see all of them in perpetual state of panic. Someone on twitter tried to figure out by how much the corona virus worsens the average 'baseline' risk to die in any given year and I think it was about 5%. Puts things into context.
