What real evidence do we have that torture is ineffective? The only claims I have read are of limited tortures (e.g., waterboarding, freezing, isolation, playing bad music, etc.) that are allowed by Western democracies sometimes. I simply cannot believe that more intense torture techniques (say, those used by criminal elements) will not result in an individual revealing whatever he knows (or dying). |
