I followed one of the links, tried to register (which IRC does not require) and was declined, "registration disabled".

About the experience I expected, tbh.

I'll stick with IRC. Given up on Mozilla long ago.

You have to use the Mozilla SSO and use one of the login options there. Removing the registration link is an open issue.
