From what I can tell, this new facility will be using Lithium Ion storage... anyone have any idea how they managed to get the cost of storage down so low if it's just plain old Li-ion?

I have this exact same question. The battery cost is significantly lower than anything else I have seen, by a large amount.

I did some further digging on the project and was unable to find anything about how the battery cost is so low.
