I'm gonna go a different way and say one of the most important things to study in comp sci is its history. If we're going to truly make programming and using computers better for people, I think it has to start with a good grounding in where they came from, how they got here, and why -- both from technical and economic perspectives. Then the next generation can help us make real leaps and not just continue with today's software trends. |
