It is astonishing to me that, after skimming the spec, anyone believes Matrix is the future. Or ActivityPub. Or XMPP.

The future of messaging, decentralized or not, is certainly something with a tractable protocol.

I agree, and this is one of the reasons I use (and contribute to) XMPP. For the Extensibility part.
