> I'm so glad this happened, this may put an end to the many, many bespoke midi implementations I've come across. Maybe it will, but I'm not terribly optimistic that we'll avoid the scenario where the various manufacturers implement the parts of MIDI 2.0 that they care about, and we'll have another mess of partial implementations that aren't entirely compatible with each other. It might help if someone puts out an open-source highly portable reference implementation that everyone can use rather than every manufacturer writing everything from scratch. |
