> I was reprimanded the other day, by management because I said in a presentation "I don't know" Maybe it's because I'm still in the junior / recent-grad mindset, but my experience has been the opposite. The most striking difference for me between academia and industry is that now it's okay to not know things. In academia you're expected to have the answers and be able to reproduce them on tests and things; in industry it seems much more acceptable to admit ignorance so long as you plan on eventually getting an answer. |

At work you have to use all your tools to continue to learn, and solve problems that has potentially never been solved before while considering cost-benefit with your solutions and making sure you do whatever it is you are doing with some sort of integrity in place.
