I don't trust people who like their software tools. I can trust some of the people who believe that their usecase justifies the cost of a tool, as long as they can also articulate it's limitations. If someone doesn't understand the environment and problem a tool solves well enough to rattle off a laundry list of good, bad and ugly design decisions, then their baseline analysis doesn't have any utility. It's a subtle distinction, because once someone is primed that these are the two options, everyone thinks they're in the second category. You have to give someone enough rope and hope they offer up how much they "love" their toys. I like this article because the container toolset ecosystem needs criticism to evolve. And we don't see enough of it. |
