I think a big problem is that Apple puts all the maintenance effort on developers. On iOS, developers have to update apps at least once a year to make sure they keep working. On the Mac, as on Windows, you could just keep using an old app for years. It didn't matter if the developer bothered to update their app for the latest OS, you could generally just keep using apps that you bought years ago. |
