If we fly home for a few weeks for the holidays we'll often bring our dog with us. We pay $125 to bring them in the cabin and they must remain in a carrier under a seat for the duration of the flight. Cheaper than paying a kennel/dog sitter and just easier for everyone all together. No problems at all so far after years of doing this. The last time I was checking in at special services (due to the dog), the employee told me she registered her dog as an emotional support animal to bypass the fee. This was the airline employee giving this advice. At that point it was clear this was just a big joke. From what I understand now you need to have a doctor's note from a mental health professional and a bunch of other paperwork in order to bring your emotional support dog without a fee/carrier. I figured that would stop a lot of tom foolery, I guess not. |
