What if the quake happened in the middle of the day when the kids were in different schools, the wife was across the bridge in the city, and I was all the way over in Redmond? The destruction would take down cell service, internet, roads, bridges, water lines, electricity - everything to a screeching stop, potentially for WEEKS. That would be catastrophic.
