Personally I think screen time is just another tool in the learning box, along with books, puzzles, toys, outside play, helping with chores etc etc. I don't really get the consternation over a child playing a counting game with an app over one with physical items (though play physical items is very necessary).

And apps take up no space while also easily being updated to be more challenging as the child's capabilities grow.
