Can python be used to make an "app"?

It's running straight-up linux. You can write apps in python with gtk or qt, or anything else that works on a linux desktop.
I might have to get one... I really miss this from my n900.
I have a couple gtk apps in progress written in python for phones using purism's libhandy. gnome builder makes it pretty darn easy, though Gtk's docs could use some love.
Woah, I didn't realize that we can use it in Python already!

How do you go about using it? I see that there's Python mentioned on https://gitlab.gnome.org/Community/Purism/libhandy but would it still not work if the phone itself doesn't have libhandy? Would you be able to install libhandy on Ubuntu Touch or Plasma Mobile?

Sailfosh OS is being ported to PinePhone & some of the most used third party native Sailfish OS applications are written in Python 3 + QML. :)

I believe this should be Sailfish OS
