Glad to see that most people agree with you. I've had a recent experience where I assumed this would be the case but it turns out I was underestimating how much attention my manager was paying to my speed, even just a couple months after being on the team. In either case, make sure you understand what is expected of you so you can be on the same page as those whose expectations matter (often a manager and your teammates). |

If "velocity" is a buzzword that comes up in natural conversation, there's a pretty good chance that's the _only_ thing they're paying attention to. If you're put in the position of managing software developers, but don't know anything about software development, all you can pay attention to is how much time they're spending on "tickets".
