Yup. So the US has created a new competitor and didn’t gain anything in the bargain other than paying for the transition. It would be one thing if this was done after, say, the TPP that ensured that Phillipines and Vietnam created an IP a regime that protected US company interests before they started manufacturing there, but that’s not what happened. |
