I'd go with an x86 or 64 bit SBC because although someone compiled Linux to run on ARM a lot of programs still can't.

Isn't the whole point of C that you can compile it against whatever architecture you wish? What programs you know of that can not be compiled to run on ARM?

Any program that's closed source. But also it's just kind of a pain to do.
