The times when the sun rises and sets change every season. The sun being in the highest position is the mid point. That's the significance of this. Having the sunrise always at 8 and the sunset at 20 in the summer and 16 in the winter makes things harder than having sunrise at 6 and sunset at 18 in the summer and sunrise at 8 and sunset at 16. We split the difference of sunlight per season. |
