Two books that dived well into this subject. Unlike this article they have a bit more meat to their research. I would recommend giving them a read before getting your pitchforks only due to this article. It's bad and needs to be fixed but a measured response instead of a purely reactionary response will just make things worse.

I'm not sure I understand, would you clarify this for me? It's been my experience that pure reaction is usually bad for discourse, so I'd like to know more.

Going from the context of the comment, I believe parent meant something along the lines of:

"we need a measured response instead of a purely reactionary response which will just make things work"

At least, that was my first impression, definitely could be interpreting the comment incorrectly.
