Knowing the clowns who run Git, I would be hard pressed to rely on them on a service of this magnitude. However, if it was for a hobby web application, sure, I'd try it.

My opinion of them is based on very public rude comments and inappropriate tweets at twitter.com by the GitHub staff.

If they want to come off as jackasses, that is fine. But it seems unprofessional to me. Their reputation is hard to ignore.
