Soli and other gesture-based technologies seem like at least an incremental move to using motion that Bret Victor was advocating for in 2011.

to me that seems like the same problem, since you still don't touch anything, the only feedback is the computer doing something (or not)

that said, I'm definitely curious to see how it performs in the wild
