There is a lot of hate for PHP out there, much of it based on people either jumping on a band wagon or assuming that PHP hasn't changed since PHP4. Modern PHP written against 7 and leveraging all the excellent tooling that exists is no worse than any other production code base. As for PHP dying, not for a long time, there are vast amounts of systems out there still running PHP. Much of the apparent loss of interest isnt because PHP numbers are declining it's because languages and frameworks exploded in numbers. A case of a medium size fish in a much bigger pond. |
