It’s not just anonymity. To get a credit/debit card you need to agree to some TOS, probably binding arbitration, and are at the mercy of the bank deciding whether or not they want to cancel your account. That would be my problem with cashless, the idea that people could be cut off entirely from the system and have no way to transact. Until the government / central bank will issue everyone a irrevocable bank account with the right to transact for free indefinitely getting rid of cash has bigger issues than just privacy implications. |
