I like to think of gravity as an anti entropic force. Logically the maximum entropy possible would be with each particle placed randomly with random momentum, but gravity makes that impossible on cosmic scales, as such a system would soon collapse because of gravity pulling the particles together. We could see gravity as an entropic limiting force, with entropy increasing statistical forces increasing entropy on the microscopic scale being contradicted by entropy limiting gravitational effects on the super-macrostopic scale. |
