This is probably the desired effect that Dropbox wanted. There is little reason to remove the symlink feature that worked perfectly well - it is a strategic move at best. Reversing the symlinks means Dropbox becomes the source of truth and the dependency on Dropbox increases. Personally, I used this to easily backup my Downloads and Documents. They just broke all clients using this feature. |
