is there a way to actually skip the sponsorship without doing it manually or am i missing something?

Well, the extension has a database of all the timestamps of the sponsors. See here: https://sponsor.ajay.app/database.db

That database is created by submissions from the community.

Every time you browse a video, it will check the DB for sponsors and skip the timestamps if needed.
