Ask HN: Tracking down OS X chrome bug?

I've come across an annoying chrome bug where highlighting text will sometimes fail (https://imgur.com/a/VSPNqvY)

I'm not sure what to blame anymore. Could it be chrome? osx/mojave? I know that it doesn't occur in firefox/safari as far as I can tell.

I've asked a few people if they can reproduce it but they all cannot (with the same chrome/osx versions give-or-take)

I'm starting to think it has something to do with osx's graphics drivers because I'm on a 15 inch mbp.

It can't possibly be a hardware problem can it? The OS/browser definitely knows I have the 'left-mouse-button' (trackpad) held down because of the i-cursor when hovering over the link

Any thoughts? I guess what I'm looking for is whether others have come across this and what should my next steps be to debug this
