The advances in computer power is great. Unfortunately what is the computing power being used for?

i was at the gym the other day and saw a few tv ads for the most... USELESS apps.

apps for dieting, apps for shopping, apps for ordering help for specific jobs...

it makes me want to give up tech startups and maybe just go plant some trees or something.
