The tech, i.e. solar panels and wind turbines etc. already exist. China already manufactures them.
For the record, socialism is working fine in western Europe. To start, they actually have stress-free healthcare there. Over here the doctors just like to maximize their billable appointments. To my knowledge, the percentage of renewable use is also higher there. Guess who has a higher life expectancy too.
Anyway, socialism or capitalism, the title of the article does hold true.
Capitalism doesn’t build technology either. People do. The -ism determines who gets paid for it.
Our current political and economic institutions incentivize socially suboptimal outcomes for our climate. Changing those institutions is as much of a requirement as developing technology to manage the cause and consequences of climate change.
