Fossil fuels already kill millions. According to Stewart Brand, the nuclear waste for one’s entire life would fit into a can of soda. And despite nimbyism, there’s already a solution for the waste in the US: Yucca Mountain. Oh, and it doesn’t produce the greenhouse gases that are currently threatening global stability in a timeframe of decades. We shouldn’t minimize a technology’s shortcomings, but we should at least frame it fairly and soberly among our set of options. |
