Which is why it says: ... you would have the traditional unit for the kilometer as defined in 1791 by the French Academy of Sciences.
Wouldn't you need the 1791 Earth, too?

The article doesn't mention that it's not the current definition.

The same can be said of the nautical mile. It is no longer defined as an minute of latitude and in instead exactly 1852 meters.
